matshit Seriously though, have you tried re- installing system drivers like: I own the Toshiba AS. Sometimes such matshita dvd-ram ujs procedure can bring the drive back to life.

If the driver would be the problem I'm sure Toshiba would have send it online by some mechanism everybody nows their online support is worst next to the optical drive even paying some cheap dollars to an "online chat group leader".
